Working with Children and Teens

WORKING WITH CHILDREN…why do I do it? I often hear that working with children is different to working with adults and this, for some reason deters or puts people off. Maybe it’s just the unknown that puts them off? My advice is, don’t be put off at all. I love working with children and teens. It’s so much fun and they really do respond well. I have now worked with around 200 plus children. I do workshops and use food in order to help them get involved and open up. The thing I love most is watching their confidence grown. You can’t predict with children as you don’t always know what you’re going to get, but that is part of the fun of working with them. I genuinely do enjoy working with children.

Taking this into consideration, I have decided to expand on working with children. As I said, I have worked with many children offering workshops, with this in mind I have decided to offer a mini version of my Cognitive Approach to Healthy Eating with children. Seeing the results and how amazingly well the children respond. I have decided to offer this on a one-to-one basis. The sessions will be built around cooking and assisting the children/teens to open up and talk about their issues and things that are going on in their lives. Things that may be causing issues such as anxiety, insomnia, tourettes or any other issues they may have. The cooking is a way to break down barriers and help build a trust relationship. I still work without the cooking but the cooking is a good way to breakdown any barriers that the children may have. If you feel that your child would benefit from Cognitive Therapy without the cooking, of course this is possible, this is just another tool that I have added to the box. Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy is how I work with my adult clients and also works as well with children/teens too.
